Self Builders
Border Airtightness Testing can help self builders achieve their main goal - a completion certificate - so you can enjoy your new home. For this, an airtightness certificate will be required to be sent to Building Control. With the aid of your architects drawings we can calculate all the necessary volumes and envelopes required before a site visit to test the buildings permeability. We can then issue a certificate the same day which can be sent to your local authority.

What we require:
1. Architects drawings - floor plans and cross sections (target air permeability score helpful but not required as such)
2. A date and time at your convenience to perform the test
3. 1-3 hours on site with your home to ourselves to prep, measure and perform the airtightness test

That's all, a relatively simple process which can be delivered with the minimum of fuss. Any queries can be asked via email info@borderat.co.uk or whatsapp/call 07746722466
Self Builders - Emily & Ryan Fraser
After a long and arduous process of self build, Emily and Ryan got in touch requiring an Airtightness Certificate for their stunning property in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. Despite being far from our base on the English/Scottish border we were more than happy to make the trip up, we serve the whole of the UK.

Prep Work
In order to achieve accurate results, we are required to tape over any internal vents and make sure water is present in the traps in the bathrooms.

Testing
New legislation means we must test both pressure and de-pressurisation tests on your property. We cover one of your doors with our Retrotec SmartCloth and our fan connected to a module and laptop takes a range of calculations to figure out the air permeability of your dwelling. We can then produce a certificate through the Elmhurst Airtightness Scheme which will give you the all important score required.
